IL Man Killed In Snowmobile Crash
January 15, 2012An Illinois man died while snowmobiling in Michigan Friday evening.
Thirty-two-year-old David McEntire from Lincoln, Ill. apparently lost control of his snowmobile and hit a tree on an evening trip in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula that included five snowmobiles. He was reportedly third in a line of five snowmobilers and the snowmobiler behind him came upon the accident almost immediately. The crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. and no one else was injured in the incident.
McEntire was taken to a hospital about 30 miles from the accident site where he was pronounced dead.
One report estimated the snowmobilers were going anywhere from 50 miles per hour to 80 mph and possibly reducing visibility because they were kicking up snow.
